Visiting Ocean County
Ocean County is located along the famed Jersey Shore in the central to eastern side of the state of New Jersey, some 70 miles south of New York. Ocean County is currently one of the fastest growing counties in the state and is an excellent place to visit or settle down and raise your family!
The county offers many outdoor attractions located near or along the coast, including Island Beach State Park, with over 3000 acres of coastal dunes to enjoy. Double Trouble State Park has over 8000 acres of land including a cranberry bog and restored historic structures that offer a bit of education along with your outdoor fun.
Ocean County is also where you’ll find Six Flags Great Adventure, an amusement park home to what is currently the world’s tallest and second-fastest roller coaster! Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, the state’s largest water park, is also part of the Six Flags family in Ocean County, as is Six Flags Wild Safari, one of the largest drive-through safaris in the world, covering over 350 acres of natural attractions and offering a wide variety of wildlife.
Living in Ocean County
Ocean County is a great place to live and raise a family! The county’s tourism industry alone offers plenty of opportunities for business owners and those looking to launch their careers, while the county’s infrastructure provides full support for commuters. The North Jersey Coast line railway serves New York Penn Station, allow Ocean County residents a fast trip in and out of the nearby Big Apple.
The county’s bus lines also offer added convenience for residents including specialty shuttles for seniors. There are also three major routes that pass through Ocean County, also allowing quick and easy access throughout the city and to nearby areas as well.
The populace of Ocean County also makes it an excellent place to work and live, with a median age in the county of 42 years. As of the 2010 U.S. census, some 32% of the county’s population were age 24 and under, another 22% were in the age 25 to 44 demographic, 25% spanned ages 45 to 64, and 20% were 65 or older.
Ocean County is also home to many locally-owned and operated businesses that are dedicated to making the county as livable as possible, and to supporting homeowners and business owners alike.
